Onalee R. Monahan, 95, formerly of Canisteo went home to be with her Lord Tuesday (March 17, 2020) at Elderwood in Hornell.
Born in Corning , October 11, 1924, the daughter of William and Mary Jackson Vanderhoef , she had resided in Canisteo for several years. She was a graduate of Canisteo Central School, Class of 1942. Onalee worked as a nurse’s aide at the Hornell Gardens. She later moved to Henderson, Nevada to live with her daughter and was employed at Sam’s Town Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Onalee was married to Theodore Burritt of Hornell in 1944 and was the father of their five daughters. He passed away in 1983. She married Edward Monahan in 1986 and he passed away in 2005.
She was predeceased by both her husbands, her daughter; Tammy Sue Burritt and her granddaughter; Karen Sue Pierce of Canisteo. She was also predeceased by her sisters; Bessie Shearer, Jennie Talbot, Grace Ross, Eleanor Towner, Louise Waight, and Lottie Healy as well as her two brothers; Hobart and Robert Vanderhoef.
She is survived by four daughters; Bonnie (John) Rhude of Nevada, Dixie (Donald) Brundage of Hornell, Sherrie (Douglass) Opie of California, and Teddi (Michael) Seabrooks of Pennsylvania, 13 Grandchildren and 34Great Grandchildren and 1 Great Great Grandchild, several nieces and nephews.

Pastor Cedric Cooper officiated at a private graveside service at Woodlawn Cemetery in Canisteo on Thursday (March 19, 2020). A Celebration of Life will be announced later in the spring.
