Helen M. Schenck, 79 of County Route 31, passed away unexpectedly Friday (March 19, 2021) at Jones Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Hornell, July 6, 1941, the daughter of Walter and Alice (Fisk) Kernan, she was married to Dale Schenck on March 25, 1960 who predeceased her in 2019.
Helen was a graduate of Greenwood Central School and had been employed at the former Marion Rohr’s, Booth and Steiner as well as Wegmans in Hornell. She was also employed at Empire Livestock and was a long time member of the J-T Ag Advisory.
Helen was a housewife and mother of many. She was an honorary member of the Jasper Fire Department
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Dale, her sister; Nancy Cornell and her brother-in-law; Karl Meeks.
She is survived by two daughters; Christina (Cliff) Ribble of Candor and Tonya (Jamie) Brewer of Greenwood, five sons; Ronald Schenck of Bath, Randall (Karen Warner) Schenck , Brian Schenck, Mark (Amy) Schenck and Shawn Schenck all of Greenwood, three sisters; Mary (Bob) Bacon of Elkland, PA., Lillian Meeks of Greenwood and Niki (Roger) Mills of Andover, her brother; James (Lucy) Kernan of Greenwood, 14 Grandchildren; Derek (Valerie) Ribble, Tara (Josh) Hack, Alica (Kendon Wood) Ribble, Travis Ribble, Chelsea (Jim ) Weber, Justin(Anna Taft) Schenck, Tyler Schenck, Torrie (Adam) Baker, Maggie (Pierce) Gunn, Sarah Schenck, Morgan Schenck, Alison Schenck, Logan Brewer and Hailey Brewer, four great grandchildren; Jolee Gunn, Wells Gunn, Evelyn Ribble, Kase Hack and two on the way. Several nieces, nephews, cousins and very special and loyal canine “Suzie”.

The family will be present to receive friends on Wednesday from 1-3 and 6-8 PM at the Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 6 Spruce Street in Canisteo where funeral services will follow at 8 PM with Rev. Todd Mitchell and Rev. Brian Diffenbacher officiating. Burial will be in Hillview Cemetery, Town of West Jasper.
