Virginia G. Burritt, 87, of Hill Street, passed away on Friday (April 2, 2021) at UR St James after a brief illness.
She was born on November 26, 1933 in Hemlock, NY the daughter of George Partridge and Marjorie Edwards Partridge. Virginia was a lifelong area resident, and was very active in her Church. She was a member of the Hornell United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School, and actively helped in the Church nursery. She was also an avid scrap booker, enjoyed gardening and baking, but most of all spending time with her family.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Charles F. Burritt Sr. in 1996, and all her brothers Melvin, Spencer, Gilbert, Edward and Carl Partridge.
She survived by her daughter Cheryl Slatt of Hornell, and 3 sons Charles Burritt Jr. of South Dansville, Glenn (Dawn) Burritt of Canisteo, James (Karen) Burritt of North Hornell, 10 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, her sisters in law Erma Partridge, and Carolyn Partridge, as well as many nieces and nephews.
The family will be present to receive friends on Monday (April 5, 2021) at the Bender-Brown & Powers Funeral Home from 11am-1pm, with a funeral service held at 1:00pm, with Rev. Lenny Fuller officiating. Burial will be at the Hillside Cemetery to follow.
