Betty Jean “BJ” Westfall, 88, of Arkport passed away Tuesday April 13, 2021 at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville.
Born in Hornell, October 30, 1932, she was the daughter of Mary Frances Van Keuren Prior. Before moving to Pennsylvania in 1969, she was employed as a beautician at Jerry’s Beauty Shop on Riverside Place in Hornell.
BJ resided in Pennsylvania for 44 years before returning to the Arkport area in 2013. She was an active member of the Woman’ s Auxiliary of the American Legion Post in Shiloh, PA.
BJ was known for her delicious sugar cookies which won the Blue Ribbon at the York County Fair.
Betty enjoyed bowling, bingo and playing cards with The Card Ladies. She loved spending time with her great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Karl Westfall, her son Bruce Marvin and her sisters Helen Turner and Ruth Dinkins.
Surviving are her children Mary Marvin of Arkport, Catherine (Charles) Rabico of California, and Fred A. (Peggy) Marvin III of Honeoye Falls along with her daughter-in-law Cindy Marvin of Arkport. She is also survived by her sisters Dorothy Hartwell of Arkport, Lois Miller York of Canisteo, Alice (Michael) Spitulnik of Rochester and her brother George Prior of Rochester as well as 6 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Honoring Betty’s wishes there will be no calling hours. The family will observe a private service at their convenience.
