Kenneth C. Almeter Almond Kenneth C. Almeter, 69 of Knollcrest Drive, passed away Thursday (April 22, 2021) unexpectedly following recent health issues. Born in Hornell February 29, 1952, the son of Clair and Mildred George Almeter, he had resided in Almond all his life. Ken was a graduate of Alfred Almond Central School and received his 2 year certificate from SUNY Alfred for drafting. He graduated at the time of the 1972 flood and there was a great need for carpentry work. He was skilled at that, repaired and built many homes, including his own, where he resided with his family. A couple years later, Ken decided to use his degree, and took a job at Air Preheater in Wellsville where he worked until his retirement in 2015. Ken was a member of the Almond Volunteer Fire Department for 50 years. He had served as treasurer, assistant fire chief and fire chief. He also belonged to the Hornell Moose Lodge and the Almond Lions Club. He enjoyed being outside and was a former hunter, enjoyed fishing, golfing, and sports. He was an avid bowler and participated in State Tournaments. He was known as the Jack Of All Trades and would be able to fix just about anything. He was always there when family needed him without hesitation. He was a proud father and grandfather. He was predeceased by his mother Mildred in 2004. Surviving are his wife; Paulette Rohalla Almeter of Almond, his daughters; Amy(Thomas) Mingle of Buffalo and Jodie Carlin of Rochester, his father; Clair Almeter of Almond, his sister; Patricia (William) Childs of Wellsville and two grand children; Faith Mingle and Cole Carlin, nieces and nephews. Private family services will be held at the funeral home followed by services at Woodlawn Cemetery in Almond.
