Zane “Tad” White
Allegany, NY: Zane (Tad) K. White 64, formerly of Belfast, NY, passed away May 3, 2021 at Strong Memorial Hospital with his fiancé Holly King at his bedside.
Born in Hornell, NY on October 12th, he was the son of the late Zane and Joyce (DeRock) White. Tad was a 1974 graduate of Belfast Central School and attended college at the University of Brockport.
Tad took great pride in being a Belfast Bulldog, playing and excelling in numerous high school sports. Despite the long-standing sports rivalry, he formulated many life-long friendships with people from Angelica.
For many years, Tad worked for Carpet Town in Olean. He was exceptional in his trade and took great pride in his work. Later, he was employed by the Iron Workers Local #6, working along-side his friend, traveling companion and partner in crime, Kirk Gielow, who pre-deceased him in 2011.
Many will remember Tad as an avid sports enthusiast. He was extremely devoted to his teams; The Buffalo Bills, Sabres, St. Louis Cardinals and Boston Celtics were among his favorites. Even during the most frustrating years, he never gave up on them. He loved entertaining friends and family at his house on Sunday afternoons while watching football. He enjoyed the sun and the beach and those who knew him best know he was rarely seen without flip-flops on. Although all these things were important to him, nothing compares to the unconditional love he had for his son and family.
Survivors include his fiancé Holly King of Allegany, son Tad (Tricia) of Horseheads, step-daughter Vicki of Horseheads, sister Deb (Yogi) of Belfast, Lauren (Dave) of Belfast, brother Paul (Cathy) of Nunda, sister Carol (Don) of Caneadea, Julie (Kevin) of Wellsville, Robyn (Girard) of Angelica, brother Kyle of Rensselaer, several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and special friends. Tad loved all the babies/children in the family and drew great comfort and strength from them. This was especially true during the past several months when visiting with his great nieces, preemie twins, Tiana and Tessa!
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, mother of Tad and Vicki, as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins and two nieces.
Visitation will be Friday, May 28, 2021, 11am-1pm at Brown and Powers Funeral home in Angelica, with the funeral service to follow. Tad's cousin Kevin Austin will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Strong Memorial Hospital cancer center or Golisano Children's Hospital NICU.
