Phyllis Woodhouse Russell
Canisteo
Phyllis (Woodhouse) Russell passed May 5, 2021 after a brief illness in Elizabethton TN. She rejoins her husband & soulmate Shirley Russell who predeceased her in May 2015 and to join the heavenly choir.
Phyllis was born December 1, 1937 in Bath, New York, the daughter of Frank and Mildred Conklin Woodhouse. She was a graduate of Haverling Central School in Bath, and the Rochester Business Institute in 1956.
Phyllis was predeceased by her parents; her husband; Shirley Russell in 2015, her sisters; Maurita Woodhouse and Gladys Spallina, as well as her brother; Fred Woodhouse.
Phyllis is survived by 3 children & spouses, Cynthia (Thomas) Slocum TN, William (Jeanne) Russell NC, and Timothy (Terri) Russell NY.
Also Surviving are 7 Grand Children & Spouses: Brian (Tonya)Russell NC, Joshua (Ashley) Wilder GA, Elizabeth Wider (Dennis Hathaway) NY, Sarah Russell (Brandon Barrentine) GA, Benjamin Russell FL, Justin (Abby) Russell NY, Ashley (Gary) Brown NY.
17 Great Grand Children and 1 Great-Great Grandchild.
Her Brother-In-Law Frank (Deanna) Russell NY, Sister-In-Laws, Joan Russell NY and Karleen House CO.
Numerous Nieces, Nephews
Her Beloved Church Families of the – Canisteo First Baptist Church and Big Springs Baptist Church (TN)
And lastly her loyal companion since the loss of her husband – Mable the Cat.
She retired in 2000 from her occupation as an Accounts Payable Clerk at Alfred University. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Canisteo, and had served as church treasurer and trustee, and was a member of the church choir. She was a member of the Jasper Chapter #752, Order of Eastern Star.
After retirement Phyllis along with Shirley enjoyed their time with family and being able to make many lasting memories of camping trips locally in New York and many other states.

Calling hours will be held Saturday May 15th 11 AM to 1PM at the Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 6 Spruce Street in Canisteo with Funeral Services to follow calling hours at 1 PM with Pastor Jim Patton officiating. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery Canisteo. There will be a small luncheon following the service for family (mask please) at the First Baptist Church, Canisteo.
