Linda Sue Evans Hornell/Arkport/Rochester Linda S. Evans, 67 of Canisteo Street in Hornell, died suddenly early Sunday morning (May 23, 2021) at home. Born in Hornell on October 19, 1953 she was the daughter of Shirley and Luella (Griffith) Evans. Linda was a graduate of Arkport Central School. After graduation Linda worked at Stephens Auto Supply and later enlisted in the United States Army for a short period. After receiving an honorable discharge from the military Linda attended Auburn University where she mastered in Social Science. She continued working many years as a mental health and drug abuse counselor at DePaul in Rochester. Linda loved helping people and working with children. In her younger years she loved traveling around the world and visiting some of her army friends. Linda had a great sense of humor and was a very avid Auburn fan. Linda had many friends in the Auburn, Alabama, and Rochester areas. She held a deep spot in her heart for dogs and enjoyed doing dog rescue for Weinheimers and German Shepherds. Linda also enjoyed listening to music, reading, and chatting with her many friends on Facebook. In addition to her parents Luella and Shirley Evans, she was preceded in death by her 2 brothers and sister in law John (Kay) Griffith, Ira (Barb) Evans her sister Jackie and brother in law Ernest Baker, brother in law David Coe, and also a nephew David W. Coe. Surviving are 2 sisters Nancy Coe of Livonia, Sharon (Jim) Claire of Hornell, her brother in law Larry Stephens Sr. of Canisteo, and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank a few of her friends that have always been there for her Mike Arena, Sue Azzoline, Marsha Weaver, Jen Genco, Brandy McClain, Michelle Marson, Sue Herrick, Lin Blades and the Hornell Ambulance for their many calls. At Linda’s request there will be no prior calling hours. A Graveside service will take place at the Bath National Cemetery on Tuesday (October 19, 2021) at 1:00pm.
