Obituary of David Francis Wray

David F. Wray Angelica David F. Wray, 82, died May 26, 2021 after a long battle with cancer. He was born June 8, 1938 in Dansville N.Y., the son of Clayton E. and Bessie M (Wing) Wray. In December 1968 he married Ruth A (Fitzpatrick) Wray and they resided in the Town of Birdsall, N.Y. for the remainder of his life. David spent over 47 years employed at the Foster Wheeler Engineering Corporation as a crane operator until his retirement. David enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and had a passion for music. Family members taught him to play guitar at just 12-13 years old after finding an abandoned guitar. Throughout the years he was a member of several bands as lead guitarist, including Country Cutups, Dick Jopson and The Northernaires, The Mustangs and The Wray Family Band. In 2005 he was recognized by WCJW A.M. 1140 for over 39 years as lead guitarist for The Northernaires and played many more years after. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings Bernice Boulden, Edward, Glenn, Lena Mason, Clayton, Robert and Betty Jean. Surviving in addition to his wife are his son; Shawn (Heather) Wray of Portville, N.Y., his daughter; Lisa Wray (Greg Goetz) of Portage, Wisconsin and his “like a son” Bill (Tanya) Crandall of Norfolk, Virginia, his grandchildren; Anna Wray, Adam Wray, Keaton and Tim, his brothers; James(Linda) Wray and John(Linda) Wray and a large extended family. A visitation will be held from 10:00-12:00 noon on Saturday, June 5th at the Brown and Powers Funeral Home, 101 West Ave. in Angelica with a Funeral service at 12:00.
