Neil W. Carney, 83, of County Route 61, Town of Hartsville, passed away Wednesday (June 2, 2021) at St. James Hospital.
Born in Hartsville, April 4, 1938, the son of Clarence and Olive Stephens Carney, he had resided his entire life in the Town of Hartsville. He had attended Canisteo Central School, and was employed as a truck driver for the New York State Department of Transportation – Region 6 in Hornell for nearly 30 years prior to his retirement.
Neil was an avid deer hunter and enjoyed living a simple life and observing wild life around his home.
He was predeceased by his parents, his son; Lonnie Carney, his sisters; Alberta Morse, Ruth Davis, and Ina Emery, his brothers; Larry, Royce, Lester, Harry Lee, and Clyde Carney.
Surviving are his daughters; Dawn McAllister of Dansville and Ashley Carney of Hornell, his sons; Lorne (Natasha Willis) Carney of Jasper, and Dennie Carney of Andover, the mother of his children; Linda (John Phillips) Carney of Angelica, his sister; Gladys DuBois of Hartsville, his brothers; Roger (Diane) Carney of Hartsville and Milburn Carney of Hartsville, 3 grandchildren: Brandon and Josh McAllister, Tristen Carney.
The family will be present to receive friends on Sunday (June 6, 2021), from 1 until 4 PM at the Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 6 Spruce Street in Canisteo where funeral service will follow calling hours at 4 PM. Rev. Dudley Jenkins will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Canisteo.
