Edith Gloria Mead (Giglio) Puffer. Hornell Edith Gloria Mead (Giglio) Puffer, had a hard life. She was born January 23, 1924 at home on 5 Cook St., Hornell, NY. She passed away on July 4, 2021 at Elderwood At Hornell. At age 3, she lost her father, Clayton Floyd Mead, in a train accident. She ended up in a Children's home with her sister, Inez, while her brother, Harold stayed with his grandfather Lavergne Woolever. They were there for a few years. Shortly after she graduated from High School, she got married to Donald Giglio. Her first son, Donald, was born in Nov., 1942. The next year she had a miscarriage, and the next December, she had Barbara. Twelve years later, she had her son, Paul. She loved her sons. After thirty years of marriage, she divorced Donald and a few years later married Robert Puffer. They were married for ten years before he died. She loved to crochet. She would get the latest pattern book and work the most difficult doily pattern in it. Barbara has several of her doilies. She also, loved to read and doing crossword puzzles. She worked at Loblaw's grocery store for many years in the Meat Department, and later worked as the secretary for the First Baptist Church in Hornell. She was active in the First Baptist Church in Hornell. She also volunteered with the VFW, and received a 300 hour pin for her efforts. Surviving are her children; Donald Giglio and wife Ceci, M. Paul Giglio, and Barbara Morten. Grandchildren; Marco(Robyn) Morgan (Chris), Katherine (Bill) and great grandchildren; Kaitlyn, Bryce, Cameron, Katrina, Taylor and Samantha. The family will be present to receive friends on Thursday (July 8, 2021) at the Bender-Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo Street in Hornell from 11am-12:30pm, with a Funeral Service to follow at 12:30pm, with Rev. Cedric Cooper officiating. Burial will be at Rural Cemetery in Hornell. In lieu of flowers, it was Edith’s wish that donations be made to the First Baptist Church, 28 Church Street, Hornell, NY 14843. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
