DOLORES DORSEY FLEMING Angelica Dolores Dorsey Fleming passed away peacefully after a short illness at Jones Memorial Hospital in Wellsville NY on July 12, 2021 at age 97. She was born in Angelica, NY Aug 4, 1923, the daughter of Edward W. and Agnes Common Dorsey. Dolores graduated from Wilsonian High School class of 1940. In High School she was very musically talented playing the violin and piano. She played “Judy” in the school play Punch and Judy in her senior year. On Dec 26, 1942 she married Edward J. Fleming at Sacred Heart Church in Angelica. Surviving are three sons: Terrance (Sonya) of Falmouth, Mass, David (Deborah) of Angelica, NY and Daniel (Wendy) of Myrtle Beach, SC. She has 9 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews and a few cousins. She was predeceased by her husband Edward in 1989, along with her parents and 3 brothers-Robert, Harold and Gerald and 1grandson Samuel. Dolores was the organist at Sacred Heart for many years when many of the songs and responses were in Latin. She was the Charter President of Hill Warner Post 414 Legion Auxiliary in Angelica. She was fortunate to travel to many destinations including Mexico, Thailand, Rome, Hawaii and her favorite place Disney World in Orlando countless times. Ed and Dolores owned and operated the Western Auto Store in Angelica for nearly 40 years. She also worked at the Village Office in Angelica and for the Allegany County Historian. Walking was a passion and could be seen walking 5 miles a day around Angelica and participated in many Lions Club Journey for Sight walks including the final one when she was 90 and led the group the entire 5 miles! For the past 5 years she took up residence at Manor Hills in Wellsville and could be seen constantly walking the halls with her trusty walking stick (not a cane). Family was the most important thing in her life. She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren (and Grand Dog Mia) and could be counted on to babysit at a moment’s notice. The care and love given to her at Manor Hills can never be forgotten by the family. Calling hours will be Friday July 16 from 5 PM to 8 PM at Brown and Powers Funeral Home in Angelica, NY. A funeral mass will be Saturday July 17, 2021 at 11 AM at the former Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church now the Works of Divine Mercy in Angelica with Father Robert Agbo as celebrant. Burial will be at Until the Day Dawn Cemetery in Angelica.
