Alice S. Harrington (Schieferstein)
Bishopville
Alice S. Harrington, passed away August 27, 2021, at the age of 94. She was born in Somerville, New Jersey the daughter of Anton and Agnes Coles Schieferstein and met her future husband when he came to work for her father at Raritan Valley Farms. Alice and Dick were married after WWII and moved to Bishopville to make their life-long home. Alice worked at Singer Sewing Center in Hornell, but after the birth of her children, she became a full time homemaker and active member of the Bishopville United Methodist Church. Alice was a great cook (especially cookies and pies) an accomplished seamstress and artist who painted in oils and pastels. She enjoyed reading, babysitting her grandchildren and shopping trips to Elmira and Rochester.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Richard J. Harrington in 2012, and her granddaughter; Barbara Kathleen Ryan.
Surviving are her daughters; Janice (James) Ryan of Avon, and Holly (Rod) Wampole of Canaseraga, 5 grandchildren; Steven Ryan (Lisa Kiley), Emily (Eric) Kilby, Dustin (Deborah) Oliver, Kyle Ryan (Chelsea Nichols) and Caitlan Wampole (Matt Ferriter) and 9 great grandchildren.

There will be no calling hours. Family, friends and neighbors are invited to attend a graveside service at Heritage Hill Cemetery in Arkport, NY on Thursday (Sept. 2, 2021) at 11:00 AM. Pastor Terry Kelly will officiate. A reception will follow at Club 57 in Hornell.
