Eleanor S. Weakland Canisteo Eleanor Sadie Weakland, 89 of South Elm Street, passed away peacefully on Sunday (Sept. 12, 2021) surrounded by her loving family. She was born August 12, 1932, and married George Weakland in 1950. He predeceased her in 2000. Eleanor attended beauty school in 1968 and worked as a hair dresser until the age of 80. Her ladies became some of her most cherished friends. In 1972, she was introduced to the IDMR (Institute of Divine Metaphysical Research) which she faithfully attended her whole life. She lived her life according to her beliefs and was a testament to her family and all who knew her. Ellee loved her Sunday Dinners and having her whole family together. She loved trips to the Casino and her scratch off tickets (when she won). She especially loved doing crossword puzzles with her sons after Sunday dinner. Eleanor was very proud of her Lebanese heritage. She loved to cook many Lebanese dishes for the family. She was a great cook and baker. Her homemade apple pies, Czechoslovakian squares and baklava will be forever missed. Grandma Ellee helped raise all of her grandchildren and their friends over the years. She loved every child born as much as the first. She was the most nurturing and affectionate woman to all. She was predeceased by her parents Wadi and Dianna George, her husband George Weakland, brothers; Dick George and Phil George, her beloved grandson; Collin Weakland, and her beloved Jeopardy host Alex Trebek. Surviving are her children; George and Cindy Weakland, Sherry (Lauren Oliver) Weakland, Cathy (Daryl) Huels, Bill and Lindy Weakland, Julie (Roque) Santiago, Robert (Justine Valentine) Weakland, her sister; Bonnie Brennan, Grandchildren; David, Elysia, Chet, Brian, Angie, Deanna, Jeremy, Sheleena, Billy, Dean, Brandon ,Destinee, Brandi, Maria, Roque, and Ashley, 27 Great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, Sister-in-law; Mary (Bob) Kimball, brother-in-law, Jack (Jeanne) Weakland, several nieces, nephews, and special friends; Frieda Kelly, Edna Brazen, former sons-in –law; Bob Fenti, Scott Held, Dale Tinker and Mike Yanni, former daughters-in-law; Kelly Speed, Nancy Brundu. The family would like to thank special care-givers; Barb Welch, Kimberly Kenyon, Sherry Charles, and Elderwood caregivers; Melissa Weakland, Carol Flint, Stephanie Jacobs, Shawna Wall, Nicole Morath, and Arji Adoui.
