Patrick Charles Freeland
Wilmington, NC
Patrick Charles Freeland, beloved husband and father, age 42 of Wilmington, NC, sadly passed away at New Hanover Regional Medical Center on September 11, 2021.
Patrick was born on October 2, 1978 to Dale and Lura Freeland in Hornell, NY.
Patrick and Kate met and married young. They grew up fast together and formed a bond that was strong and unwavering, and added Jacob to their loving family. Ben was born next, and when he got sick, Patrick and Kate’s bond miraculously grew even stronger. They supported each other and their son during the most trying of times. Patrick loved his family, and always thought to the future, while Kate saw more to the here and now. They were different, but so much alike, which is what made them so compatible. Even though he was unable to tell what the future held, Patrick ensured that his family would be taken care of, no matter what. Patrick was also a Program Director for Marine Diesel at Cape Fear Community College, where he touched many lives during his time there. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, coworkers, students, and all those that had the opportunity to know him.
Patrick is survived by a loving family, which include his wife Kathryn “Kate” Freeland, his sons Jacob and Benjamin Freeland, brothers Troy and Mark Freeland, sister Barbara Freeland, and his parents, aforementioned Dale and Lura Freeland.
A service to remember Patrick was held on Thursday, September 16, 2021 from 6:00pm – 8:00pm at Wilmington Funeral & Cremation – Wilmington Chapel.
