Patricia Ann Evans Porter Hornell, New York-Patricia Ann Evans Porter, 87, of Hornell, New York, died Tuesday (Sept 28,2021) at St.James Hospital Born May 24, 1934, at Wayland Hospital in Wayland, NY, she was the daughter of the late Richard Bemish Evans and Onnolee Bertha Shetler Evans. Mrs. Porter was a 1952 graduate of Wayland High School. She spent her adulthood as a dedicated homemaker and matriarch of her family. Mrs. Porter was an excellent artist, working for a brief period hand painting wooden bowls with strawberry designs for Wayland Woodcroftery. She also had the distinct honor of painting Disney characters for a family nursery in Wayland. Mrs. Porter was a member of First United Methodist Church of Canisteo, Canisteo, NY, where she previously taught Sunday school. One her greatest joys in life was knitting, and she often presented family, as well friends with her handmade gifts. Survivors include her sister, Colleen Evans Moffatt of South Carolina; sister-in-law, Millie Evans of Maryland; grandchildren, Nicki Porter Arnold (Chad) of Ravensdale, WA, Jamie Porter (Carissa) of Almond, NY, Chief Petty Officer Kyle Porter, US Navy (Joanna) Virginia Beach, VA; great grandchildren, Korbin Porter, Travis Porter, Alyssa Porter, Hayden Arnold, Logan Arnold, and June Porter, as well as a multitude of extended family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Earl Porter, Sr; sons, Richard Jr. and James Bemish Porter; brothers, Chief Petty Officer Norman P. Evans, US Navy (Ret.), Dennis H. Evans, Richard Michael Evans, and Norbert D. Evans. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the people below. K&K garage for keeping her aging car running well so she could complete her errands until she decided to retire from driving. Mr. and Mrs. Luther Stevens for assisting with her banking and grocery shopping. Mr. and Mrs. Royce Vanderhoct for mowing her lawn and keeping a watchful eye on her throughout the years. Elder Care and the Updyke’s for their devoted care to Mrs. Porter, as well as the entire family. Brown’s Funeral Home for serving the Porter family with love and dignity. You have always been a class act have been extremely helpful with your suggestions to honor Mrs. Porter. Elise McCollum for the use of her cabin during the days of the Mrs. Porter’s funeral and Marcia McCollum for her lifelong dedicated friendship. The family will receive friends on Sunday (Oct. 3, 2021) from 2 until 4 PM at the Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 6 Spruce Street in Canisteo where funeral services will follow calling at 4:00 PM with Pastor Dena Stevens officiating.
