George E. Moore Sr, 79 of Hornell, passed away Saturday (November 6, 2021) at his home. Born in Lockport, NY on February 23, 1942. He was the son of John and Celia Moore. He married his wife of 50 years Dianne on March 28th, 1970. They raised four children in the Hornell area, where he resided most of his life. George enjoyed spending time working on projects outdoors. You would often find him under the hood of a vehicle making repairs or in the garage tinkering with something. He enjoyed sharing his knowledge and teaching his children and grandchildren how to fix things. Whenever a vehicle broke down, he was called to come to the rescue. It was often said that if Dad/Grandpa couldn’t fix it then it wasn’t fixable. In his younger years George was employed as a welder for the New York State DOT and at Foster Wheeler in Dansville. He later acquired his CDL and drove tractor-trailers throughout the East Coast for Covered Wagon, A.L. Blades, Grey Metal Products, and Conway Central Express. In his younger years he raced stock cars at Woodhull raceway. For many years he enjoyed going to Sunday morning breakfast with family and friends. He also loved showing off his antique tractors and competing in tractor pulls. He was predeceased by his Wife Dianne Moore; Parents John and Celia Moore; Brother Ralph Moore; Father-in-Law Tom Harwood; Mother-in-Law Betty Harwood; Brother-in-Law Randy Harwood; Brother-in-Law Lewis Mehlenbacher; Niece Debra Mehlenbacher; Brother-in-Law Jack Linnenbank.
