Obituary of Sandra Lee VanCise

Sandra L. VanCise Canisteo Sandra L. VanCise, 79 of Maple Street passed away Sunday (March 20, 2022) at St James Hospital. Born in Hornell, March 16, 1943, she was the daughter of James C. and Bernice Griffin Cook. She attended Hornell High School and was later employed by the former Corbin Wood Products in Hornell. She then joined the custodial staff at SUNY Alfred where she retired after 25 years of service. She loved baking, crafts, Elvis Presley and singing but especially enjoyed being outside and spending time with her family. She was predeceased by her parents, her sister; Sheila Brown, and her son James Jackson in 2010. Surviving are her husband; James VanCise of Canisteo, her daughter; Lori Priestley of Hornell, her sons; John (Frances) Jackson Jr. of Prattsburg and Kevin (Jennifer) VanCise of Painted Post, her sisters; Brenda (Warren) Cline of Addison and Darlene (Randie) Brewer of Hornell, her brother; Duane (Donna) Cook of North Carolina, 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. The family will be present to receive friends at the Bender-Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo Street in Hornell on Thursday (March 24) 2022 from Noon until 2 PM followed by funeral services at 2 PM with Rev. Lenny Fuller officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Canisteo.
