Mavis J. (Hooker) Reniff age 91, passed away peacefully on Sunday (April 10, 2022) at the Hornell Gardens.
She was born in Angelica, NY on June 13, 1930 the daughter of the late Charles A. Hooker and Olive (Vincent) Hooker. She had worked for the former Speer Resistor in Angelica, and later worked as a dietary aide at the Houghton Nursing Home. Mavis enjoyed baking, cooking, reading, but most of all enjoyed children including all the neighborhood kids too.
She was predeceased by her parents, her beloved husband Neil in 1980, her grandson Eric Lowe, her son in law Edward Gordon, 2 brothers Harry “Junior” Hooker, Elton Hooker, 3 sisters Virginia “Anne” Dorsey, Marilyn Peterson, and Geraldine Hooker.
She is survived by her son James (Dawn) Reniff of Belmont, her daughter Carolyn (Bill Ritter) Gordon of Belmont, her sister Arlene (Allan) Kepner of Wellsville, her sister in law Sally Hooker of Hornell 5 granddaughters, 11 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild, several nieces, and nephews.
The family will be present to receive friends on Thursday (April 14, 2022) from 6-8pm, and Friday (April 15, 2022) from 11am-1pm, with a Funeral Service to follow at 1:00pm, at the Brown & Powers Funeral Home in Angelica, with Pastor David Ford officiating. Burial will be at the Until the Day Dawn Cemetery.
