Mabel Olive Brewster
Mabel Olive (McConnell) Brewster, 93, of Canaseraga, NY passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at home with loved ones.
She was born in Rathbone, NY on August 26, 1928, the daughter of Hugh C. McConnell and Marion Elizabeth (Bell) McConnell and graduated from Painted Post High School.
She worked at the Corning Glass Works in Corning, Corbins of Hornell, and Gunlocke in Wayland, NY.
Mabel was a devout Christian and dedicated her life in service to others and her family. She volunteered as a den mother for the local Cub Scouts and taught Sunday school for many years at the Valley Wesleyan Church in Canaseraga. She loved cooking and fed the entire neighborhood. Everyone that knew her called her mom. Her home was always open and welcoming.
Although she did not ride a bicycle she was often seen walking next to her husband Bruce to keep him on the straight and narrow, or you would see them walking hand in hand through the village of Canaseraga.
Predeceased by beloved husband Bruce, sons Brian and Barry; three sisters Ethel, Lois and Barbara; and three brothers James, Raymond, and Michael.
Loving mother of sons, Bruce Jr. of Canaseraga, Brett (Pamela) of Lancaster, and Jimmy (Jodi) of Canaseraga; loving grandmother of Shannon, Nathan, Stephen, Brian, Daniel, Shawn, Brandon, Michael, Stacy, Taelor, Cody and Brett II and many great grandchildren; also survived by two sisters, Laura Perry of Watkins Glen and Beverly Manning of Genesee, PA.
The family will be present to receive friends on Friday, April 29th, 2022 from 5 PM to 7 PM at the Bender-Brown and Powers Funeral Home in Hornell, NY and a funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 30th at 11 AM at the same location. Burial will be at Canaseraga Cemetery.
