Obituary of David Charles France

David C. France Hornell David C. France, a certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor, and long -time resident of Hornell died on Saturday, May 7th, 2022 at Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester, NY after a short illness. Born on July 24, 1941, he was 80 years old. David was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Virginia France, his brother, Stephen, and his sister Mary Beth. He is survived by his brother Thomas (Betty Lou) of Phoenix Arizona , three sisters; Connie Wright of Durham, NC; Sharlie Gates ( Douglas) of The Villages , FL and Kristen Headley (James) of Horseheads, NY. David is also survived by 16 loving nieces and nephews and many Great nieces and nephews. David graduated from Hornell High School and Alfred State College. He earned an Associate’s degree in accounting. He worked In Rochester for many years as an alcohol and drug counselor in a Halfway House. After retirement he moved back to Hornell to help care for his elderly mother. David's love of classical music gave him many hours of listening pleasure. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Visiting hours will be held at Bender- Brown and Powers Funeral Home, Canisteo St, Hornell from 11:00am to 1:00 pm on Wednesday, May 11, 2022, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 pm, The Rev. Katherine Griffis officiating. Burial will be in Hornell Rural Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to (( VFW 254 Canisteo Street Hornell NY 14843 or Local Food Bank.
