David Fletcher, 73, of South Main Street passed away Tuesday (May 24, 2022) at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.
Born in North Hornell on August 18, 1948 the son of Gerald and Marion (Robords) Fletcher he had resided in Avoca for the last forty four years and was a graduate of the Avoca Central School class of 1968.
He had been employed as a Building and Ground Supervisor at Gunlocke in Wayland before becoming a Product Group Specialist for Phillips Lighting in Bath where he retired from in 2010.
David will be remembered as a fan of both the Buffalo Bills and New York Yankees as well as his love of Jig Saw puzzles, yardwork and gardening. He also enjoyed going on rides through the countryside. David served five years in the United States Army, three of which were spent in Germany as a Pershing Missile Control Specialist.
He was predeceased by both parents and two sisters in-law; Cathy Clark and Theresa Hendee.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years; Margaret (Sexton) Fletcher of Avoca, three Sons; Daniel (Lisa) Fletcher of Marion, Illinois, Gerald (Dawn) Fletcher of Hornell and James (Tanya) Fletcher of Avoca, two Sisters; Barbara (Tom) Charles of Marysville, PA., Rozanne (Dale) Fisher of Palmyra, N.Y., Sister in-law; Pat (Stan) Faryna of Painted Post, nine Grandchildren, two step grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
There will be no calling hours. A celebration of life will be held by the family at a later date. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Almond.
