Maudina Gougeon Stevens-Alexander

Maudina (Dina) Gougeon Stevens Alexander, went to be with the Lord peacefully, on June 20, 2022.
She was born on March 3, 1927 in Port Huron, Michigan, where she grew up.
She was predeceased by her parents, Edward and Nancy Rowley Gougeon, as well as two sisters, Mary Grisham and Eva Porter, and her brother, Edward Gougeon
As a child and youth, Dina enjoyed spending time with Eva and Ed Miller as well as her childhood friend Eleanor who were like family to her.
On April 5, 1946, she married Frank L. Stevens who predeceased her in December 1986. She was later married to Gordon Alexander who predeceased her in June 2011. Dina was known as a hard worker, and was employed at the former Gray’s Grocery Store, the former Bethesda Community Hospital, former Dunn’s Drug Store, Loblaws and as a home health aide. She and her husband Frank enjoyed spending their summers at Lake Demons.
Dina was a loving sacrificial, caring mother to Brenda, Nancy, and Dena. She was a giving and kind loving grandmother to 6 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and one great great granddaughter. Dina was a wonderful cook and her grandchildren always looked forward to Grandma’s homemade chili. She was a caring neighbor and friend to the Conklin Street family. The three Golden Girls of Conklin Street, (Nora, Bernice and Dina) are now together in Heaven. Dina was active in the Foster Grandparents program at Bryant School and an active member of the former East Avenue Methodist Church where she participated in Bible Study, taught Sunday School, was a member of the Methodist Missionary Society and the Marrjunel Circle, SPPRC and many other activities of the church.
Surviving are her daughters, Brenda Tenney of North Hornell, Nancy (William McNelis) Loper of North Hornell and Rev. Dena Stevens of Arkport,
Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Thursday (June 23, 2022) from 1 PM until 3 PM at the Bender-Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo Street in Hornell where funeral services will follow calling hours at 3 PM with Rev. Dena Stevens and Rev. Beverly Karr Lyons officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Canisteo.
