Carol L. (Grant) Belcher passed away Friday evening (August, 19, 2022) at her home on State Route 417.

Born on May 11, 1942 in Woodhull, N.Y., a daughter of Charles and Evelyn (Stickles ) Grant, she had resided the majority of her life in the Woodhull/Jasper area.

Carol was a long time member of the Canisteo Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She was a published poet and enjoyed card games as well as board games and was a collector of both stamps and postcards. She was an animal lover and an avid reader of mystery novels especially those by the likes of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and Agatha Christie. In her younger years she loved to dance (particularly the Polka) but enjoyed several different varieties.

She was predeceased by both parents, 3 children; Charolette O’Dell, Sharon Stutzman and Douglas O’Dell, 4 siblings; David Grant, Rita Kay-Grant, Judy Grant and Phillip Grant.

Survivors include: Her husband of 56 years Loul Belcher of Jasper, a daughter; Durene (Robert) Kernan of Cameron Mills, one brother; Larry Grant of Woodhull, 4 sisters; Harla Grant of Portageville, Janice (Larry) Brewer of South Canisteo, Connie (Robert) Miller of Big Flats and Phyllis (Donald) Preston of Rathbone, 7 grandchildren; Shelly (Zorin) Bullock of Ithaca, Deanna Stutzman of Ohio, Douglas Stutzman of Corning, Phillip O’Dell of Missouri, Andrew (Kim) O’Dell of Tuscarora, Kayln Kernan of Canisteo, Scarlett (Joshua) Kernan-Wingert (also of Canisteo) and several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will be present to receive friends on Saturday (August 27) from 12-2PM at the Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 6 Spruce Street, Canisteo where funeral services will be held at 2PM with Elder Randy Mattison officiating. Burial will be at on Monday (August 29) at 11:00 AM at The Bath National Cemetery.
