Ray M. Bacon, 89, a resident of the Lincoln Gardens, passed away unexpectedly Friday (Oct. 14, 2022) at his home.
Born in Erie, Pennsylvania, October 26, 1932, the son of Jay and Alice Newman Bacon, he had made his home in Hornell since about 1961.
Ray proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army from 1953-1956, and then from 1956-1960 as a member of the United States Air Force. He had been a carpenter by trade and worked through the Carpenters Union Local #66. In later years, he was employed as a Mechanic for Amerail in Hornell.
He was a Booster Member of the Hornell VFW, a member of the American Legion Post in Hornell as well as the Hornell Association.
He was predeceased by his parents, his wife, Barbara Gordon Bacon in 1998,his sisters, Betty King, Bonnie Degree, Dorothy Vosburg, Lois Kame and Velma Garrippe, his brothers, Charles, Donald, Ted, Fred , William and Clark Bacon.
Surviving are his sons, Robert (Amy) Bacon of California, Michael (Neale) Bacon of Arizona and Larry (Kim) Bacon of Hornell, 10 Grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

There will be no calling hours. Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service with full Military Honors at 11 AM on Thursday (Oc. 20, 2022) at Bath National Cemetery.
