Larry N. Carney, 75 passed away at home on Sunday (February 12, 2023) with his family by his side, after a 2 year battle with cancer.

 

He was born in Hornell on April 7, 1947 the son of Harold Carney and Beatrice (McGuire) Carney, and was a graduate of Canaseraga Central School. After graduation he joined the US Navy and was stationed on the Air Craft Carrier “USS Ranger”, and did 3 tours in Vietnam. Larry was a very well respected contractor. He really enjoyed woodworking making many fine pieces of furniture. Larry enjoyed hunting and made many hunting trips to Colorado with his sons, and was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.

 

He is survived by his wife Dawn Peters Carney whom he married on September 26, 1970, his children Mathew (Emilie) Carney, Andrew Carney, his grandchildren Grace, Aubrie, Brenden Carney, his sisters Pat (Verge) Champlin, Lenis White, and Melinda (Chris) Carney as well as many nieces, and nephews.

 

The family will be present to receive friends on Saturday (February 18, 2023) from 11am-1pm at the Bender-Brown & Powers Funeral Home in Hornell, and Memorial Service to follow at 1:00pm with Father John Cullen officiating.
