     Hornell

Diana K. LaFaro, 69 of Fulton Street passed away Thursday (March 16, 2023) at St James Hospital.

Diana was born July 22, 1953 in Wellsville, the daughter of Glenn E. Anderson and Nordica E. (Root) Anderson.  She married James LaFaro on July 23, 1994 in Hornell. She graduated from Wellsville Central School in 1971, and received her bachelor’s degree in mathematics from SUNY Brockport in 1975.

She went to work in 1976 for the Allegany County Department of Social Services where she retired as a Child Support Investigator in 2008 after 32 years of service.

She had been a member of the Hornell IDMR since 1990. Diana learned how to sew her own clothes from her mother. Her talent and analytical mind let her to become a very precise & prolific knitter and quilter. She was very generous throughout her life in gifting many of her projects to family and friends.

She was predeceased by her parents.

Surviving are her husband, James LaFaro, 3 step-daughters, Maria LaFaro of Webster, Michelle LaFaro of Hornell and Sara LaFaro of Victor, 2 grandchildren, Caroline Kelly & Nathaniel Anderson of Rochester, her sister, Sharon Wallace of Tonawanda, her brother, Richard G. (Laurel) Anderson of Scio, an aunt & uncle, Ruth & Charlie Hoffstatter of Liberty Hill, Texas, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Calling hours will be held on July 22, 2023 from 3-5pm at the Bender-Brown & Powers Funeral Home and from 5-7pm at the Hornell VFW with luncheon provided. Memorial donations in Diana’s name can be made to the Hornell Area Humane Society, 7649 Industrial Park Road, Hornell, NY 14843.
