Minnie Pearl Gadsden, 81 of 48 Maple Street, passed away Saturday (March 18, 2023) at Highland Hospital in Rochester after a prolonged illness.
Minnie was born in Plant City, Florida on August 27, 1941, the daughter of John and Ethel Sapp Sheppard. She had been a resident of Hornell for several years and had been employed in the Custodial Department at Alfred State College. She retired as a Supervisor Janitor in 1991 following 22 years service.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Harold Gadsden in 2010, her daughter Lorie Ann Gadsden in 1993 as well as her sisters and brothers, Sandra Sheppard, Ernestine Sheppard, and brothers Abraham, Willie B. and James Sheppard.
She is survived by her daughters, Brenda Blake (Ronnie Francis) of Geneseo, and Okeena (Janee) Gadsden of Hornell, her sons, Lawrence (Susan) Glover of Plant City, Florida, and David Gadsden (Susan Duffy) of Hornell, her sister, Ethel Ferguson of Florida, several grandchildren and great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and family.
Family and friends are invited to attend visitation hours on Monday (March 27, 2023) at the Bender-Brown & Powers Funeral Home 354 Canisteo Street, in Hornell from 11 AM until 1 PM where Minnie’s Homegoing Service will be held at 1 PM. Her son Lawrence Glover will officiate. Burial will be in Hornell Rural Cemetery.
