Obituary of Gloria Beatrice James

Gloria B James, 83, of Union Street went home to be with her Lord, whom she loved dearly. Thursday (April 20, 2023) at her home.

 Born in Rahway, New Jersey on July 4 1939, she was the daughter of John and Mary (Mangione) Garofolo. Gloria moved to the Canisteo area in 1968 where she enjoyed gardening and caring for her family and all her many animals. Gloria was employed in many areas serving others. Among them her favorites were The Hornell Country Club and the child day care she ran from her home for many years. She loved and cared for each and every one of the children as if they were her own. A special place of employment for Gloria was the Dansville Truck Stop where she met her husband OJ. She was a member of the Canisteo Wesleyan Church.

 Survivors include her husband, Junior O. James of Canisteo to whom she was married for 36 years, her daughters, Rev. Cheryl (Mark "Zeke") Remchuk of South Carolina, Deborah (Johnny) Deal of North Carolina, her sons, Clifton (Roxanne) Wright of Florida, Douglas (Stephanie) Wright of Canaseraga, her grandchildren, Brandy Remchuk, Rebekah Remchuk, James Pond, Jill (Pond) Brown, Joshua Wright and Hannah Wright. 10 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren, her "bonus children", Timothy (Jinny) James, Darla (Gary) Carnahan and David (Jane Ann) James, and her brother Jackie Garofolo of New Jersey. The family will be present to receive friends on Thursday (April 27, 2023) at the Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 6 Spruce Street in Canisteo from 11AM until 1PM where funeral services will follow calling hours at 1PM with Rev, Shannon Brumfield officiating. Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery in Canisteo.
