John “Jack” M. Warriner fondly known as Big Blue, 86, of Greenwood, NY passed away unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, May 13, 2023.

John was born in Greenwood on October 17, 1936, the son of Howard and Lillian (VanDuren) Warriner. He graduated from Canisteo Central School Class of 1954. He proudly served his country as a tank operator in the United States Army from 1955-1957.

John returned to the Canisteo Valley and married the love of his life, Marilyn (Mullen) Warriner on August 10, 1957. They celebrated 65 years of marriage in 2022. They made their home on Bennett’s Creek, where they raised 8 children. He was a dedicated dairy farmer and truck driver. He was a trustee of the Bennett’s Creek Cemetery Association.

John was a humble man with a kind soul. He was a devoted son, husband, Dad, Grandpa, brother, uncle, friend, and neighbor. He will forever be remembered for his love and dedication to his family. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends on the farm, whether it be at the kitchen table with a cup of coffee, around the fire listening to music and telling stories, supporting his grandkids at various school eventsor evenings spent at the hunting camp. Throughout his years of farming and truck driving, Big Blue established meaningful connections with everyone he met. Our Dad was truly the best of the best.

Predeceased by his parents, his in-laws Glenn and Bernice Mullen, his brothers David and Howard Jr, sister Phyllis and brother-in-law Clarence. He is reunited with two of his beloved sons, Jonathan “Jon-Boy” and Ron.

Deeply missed by, his wife Marilyn, his daughters, Valerie (Daniel) Anthony, Kristine (Jason) Hayesand Amy (Jason) Peters, his sons, Douglas Warriner (Susan Swan and her son Jack), Allan (Judy) Warriner and James (Nina) Warriner,daughter-in-laws Laurie (Howard) Hebelerand Nancy Warriner. His treasured 24 grandchildren, Amber (Benjamin), Aaron (Colleen),Chalsey (Mike), Kellen (Bonnie), Evan (Virginia), Amanda (Paul), Marissa, Alicia, Cassie (Matt), Rebecca (Brock), Darrin (Charmine), Jordan (Bryce), Sarah, Chad (RayAnn), Riley, Taryn, Allyson, Cooper, Chance, Chloe, Jack, Coby, Hunter and Cash. His great-grandchildren Emmett, Grayson, Maximus, Everette, Oakley, Reagan, Matthew, Illeana, Millie, Talia, Jasmine and two great-grandsons Landon and Maverick soon to be born. Also survived by his brothers Edmond (Lois) Warriner and Richard (Lorraine) Warriner, his special “sister” Beth Niles and nephews/honorary grandchildren Christopher and Pat Niles, sister-in-laws Alice Jean Warriner and Arnet Warriner, a special “adopted” son Marc (Deanna) Warriner, several nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors and friends.

There will be no prior calling hours. Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Saturday (May 20, 2023) at 1:00pm at the Bennett’s Creek Bible Church, State Route 248, Canisteo, with military honors being accorded. The family will observe a private committal at the cemetery following the services.
