Howard W. Kemp Jr, age 66 of South Street in Hornell, passed away peacefully on Sunday (June 25, 2023) with family by his side.
He was born in Hornell, NY the son of Howard W. Kemp Sr., and Beverly Stage Kemp. Howard had proudly served in the National Guard, and had worked as a Truck Driver, an electrician and for many years at Fred Johnson & Son. He had lived in the Almond area for a while and moved back to Hornell in 1974, and was a proud member of the NRA.
He is predeceased by his parents a brother Lloyd Kemp, and a brother in law Dan Overton.
He is survived by the love of his life and wife Theresa Parsons Kemp, 4 sons Howard Kemp III of Hornell, David Kemp of Hornell, Ronnie Stephens II of Hornell, Robert Stephens of Hornell, 5 daughters Yvonne Kemp of Bath, Tosha (Brittney) Smith of Hornell, Carla (Brian) Dodge of Canisteo, Tonya (Blake) Martin of Hornell, Veronica Van Horn of Wayland, 2 sisters Kimberly (Donald) Smith of Canisteo, Ella Overton of Myrtle Beach, 29 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, his second family of nieces and nephews Janina (Scott) Ackerman, Kendra (Darnell) Ridgeway, Danielle (Jared) Ryan, Rebecca (Montana) Ames and all their children, his father in law John Smith, special sister in law Terry (Rick) Woodworth, his lifelong friends “sisters” Hanne Wallauer, and Brenda Gadsden, a very special friend Billy Spike, and his four legged kid “Lucky”.
The family will be present to receive friends on Thursday (June 29, 2023) from 3-6pm at the Bender-Brown & Powers Funeral Home 354 Canisteo Street in Hornell, and on Friday (June 30, 2023) from 11am-1pm with the Funeral to follow at 1:00pm, with Rev. Dudley Jenkins and his sister Kimberly Smith officiating. Burial will be at Hope Cemetery in Hornell.
