Milford “Yogi” Johannes  74, of 7621 Breitweser Road, passed away peacefully surrounded by family Sunday (Aug. 6, 2023) at Jones Memorial Hospital in Wellsville, N.Y. following a long illness.

Born in Dansville, March 10, 1949, he was the son of Clifford and Elva Marble Johannes.

Yogi was a 1967 graduate of Belfast Central School where he excelled in soccer and helped the team win the Section V state championship coached by Paul Vienna. He was asked to tryout with the Baltimore Bays professional soccer league but instead enlisted in the Army where he proudly served his country in the Vietnam conflict.

After being honorably discharged, he resided several years in Rochester, N.Y. and  Pennsylvania returning to the Belfast-Angelica area in 2020.

Milford was a class a carpenter but also had many jobs driving semi and he owned & operated his own bread route in Pennsylvania and New York areas.

Yogi was a diehard Yankee fan and enjoyed watching all their games. He also loved playing golf and made many friendships along the way.

He loved traveling and enjoyed taking cruises and making numerous trips to Ocean City and Myrtle Beach but most of all loved his family.

Surviving are his wife, Patricia Miller Johannes of Angelica, his children, Leigh Ann (Edward) Willover of Portville, Jobe (Michele) Vogel of Brockport, PA, Channon (Marianne) Vogel of Hickory, North Carolina, Thomas (Sabrina) Vogel of Sarver, Pa., Shawn Vogel of Dubois, PA. Step-son Michael Miller of Angelica, a sister, Carmelita England of Albion, NY, a nephew Chris England of Albion, NY,  10 Grandchildren, Katelyn, Corey, Paige, Jordan, Brooklynn, Riley, Aiden, Ava, Brody and Tia,  2 step grandchildren, Alaina Cleveland and Robert C. Miller, 2 great grandchildren, Quinnley and Grayson.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother-in law Raymond England and his grandson Dwayne Willover.

 Yogi enjoyed and valued all his lifelong friends especially Frank & Chris Miller and family who were always there to help and support their friend.

Memorials can be made to K9’s For Warriors to help Veterans with PTSD or the Gary Sinese Foundation.
