Richard P. Hunt, 64, a resident of Tobes Hill Road, passed away Sunday (Aug. 27, 2023) at Hart House of Wellsville.
Born in Queens, New York City, Jan 14, 1959, he was the son of Larry E. and Joan Howard Hunt. He had resided in Friendship and Hornell nearly all his life. He worked summers at Letchworth State Park as a teenager. He was a 1977 graduate of Friendship High School. He spent several years in New York City working as a Mental Health Therapy Aide. After settling in Hornell, he became self-employed with his own painting business. Later in life, he graduated top of his class as a certified CNA through GST BOCES.
He enjoyed riding ATV’s and building model trains. He shared these pastimes with his children while they were growing up. His favorite hobby in his later years was gaming on video game consoles and his PC.
He was predeceased by his father Larry E. (Phyllis) Hunt and his mother Joan Howard Hunt.
Surviving are his wife, Susan Hunt of Canaseraga, his children, Jared (Ashley) Hunt of Cuba, Shannon (Josh) Cornish of Canandaigua, Andrea Hunt of Hornell, Katey Hunt of St. Louis, MO, and Ethan Hunt of Hornell, his “mom” Phyllis Hunt of North Carolina, his sisters, Laurie (Jim) Buzzard of Cuba, Victoria Hunt of Bradford, PA and Susan (Bob) Bleeks of Hume, and his grandchildren, Kelsey, Makenzie, Nicholas, Scotti, Ashley, Haley, Lilian, Emily, Breckham, Braelynn, and Braxtynn.
There will be no calling hours. The family will be holding a Celebration of Life memorial on Saturday, Sept. 9th, at Kanakadea Park at 3pm. All are welcome to attend. Food and refreshments will be provided. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Canisteo.
