Diana Lynn Kubiak

Hornell

Our loving mother Diana Lynn Kubiak, 63, passed away Monday (Sept. 11, 2023) at Highland Hospital in Rochester.

Born in Hornell on February 8, 1960, she was the daughter of Richard and Frances (Phillips) Gottschall. She graduated from Arkport Central School and was a longtime resident of Hornell. She was a member of Our Lady Of The Valley Parish and a communicant of St. Anns Church in Hornell.

Diana was a proud mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, and friend. Despite battling significant health challenges during the last decade of her life, she maintained a grace, patience, gratitude, grit, and optimism that were an inspiration to all who knew her. Her sense of humor and knack for storytelling even in her most difficult times could bring a smile to the face of anyone around her, especially her seven children.

Before her health challenges, Diana was a dedicated worker who often maintained several jobs at once. She had been employed as a Quality Control Inspector at Alstom in Hornell and many knew her as a waitress for several years at Texas Cafe, Giovanni’s Pizzeria, and The Collegiate where she made a profound impact on the community.

She was predeceased by her father.

Surviving are her mother, Frances Gottschall of Arkport; her brothers, James Gottschall of Arkport and Brian Gottschall of Avoca; her daughters, Theresa (Eric) Harwood of Hornell, Mary Kubiak of Hornell, Bridget (Ale) Kubiakof Hornell and Michelle (Erik) Seeger of Buffalo; her sons, Robert (Myrna) Kubiak II of Newburgh, David Kubiak of Chicago, and Rich (Samin) Kubiak of New York City; her grandchildren, Dylan Harwood, Riley Harwood, Mackenzie Gardner, Richard Gardner, Izabella Gardner, Juliet Stiles, Eliana Seeger, and Richard Seeger; and two nephews and one niece. Also surviving are her loving companion, Eric Wheeler, and her longtime best friend, Kathy Meyer.
