Eugene W. Jones, 79 a resident of Pleasant Valley Road, Alfred Station passed away Tuesday (Sept. 26, 2023) at St. James Hospital in Hornell.

Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Sept. 4, 1944, he was the son of Joseph W.  Jones and Patricia S. Jones. He had resided his early life in Florida before moving to the Hudson Valley area in the early 1970s, finally landing in Alfred Station in 1978.  He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army before working his way up the ranks from Lineman to Telecommunication Engineer in state and national telephone and networking companies, most recently employed for many years with Nortel Networks in Rochester.

Surviving are his son, Andrew (Laura Boynton-Jones) Jones of Syracuse; daughters, Aubrie-Anna (Robert Rajca) Rajca of Alfred Station and Kelsey Jones of Hornell; his sister, Kerrie Watkins of Florida; and 2 grandchildren, Benjamin Rajca (9yrs) and Adeline Jones (17mo).  Gene was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Laurielena Jones.

Honoring Gene's wishes there will be no formal services, instead there will be a memorial celebration and bonfire at his home (405 Pleasant Valley Road, Alfred Station) on October 7th, 2023 from 2pm to 6pm.
