January 4, 1939-October 1, 2023
Hornell, NY. – Harlan S. Cook son of Howard Cook and Thelma (Cook, Harwood) passed away following an illness. Harlan proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1960-1964 and was an aircraft mechanic specifically working with the C-133 Cargo Master aircraft. He retired from A L Blades & Sons after many years where he drove an oil distributor working at multiple construction sites. Harlan enjoyed getting coffee with his friends most weekends at a local coffee shop chatting about life and sharing in laughter. A longtime member of The Association in Hornell he enjoyed socializing and spending time there and hoping to win the drawing. Harlan was a dedicated and proud Father, Grandfather (affectionately called PaPa) and Great Grandfather and called every evening to check in on his family wanting to know every detail from what the kids are working on to what they ate for dinner. His Grandson Greysyn describes him as a caring and accepting PaPa who always did his best to learn new things and make sure he knew he was supported and loved and he admired his strength and sense of humor. Harlan is predeceased by his ex-wife Sandra (Simons) Cook, He is survived by his son Timothy Cook and his wife Cathlene (Barnes), his Grandson Alex Cook and his wife Lashelle, Granddaughter Aryka Cook, Grandson Christopher Cook, Grandson Greysyn Cook, and Great-Grandson AJ Cook, his brother Ronald Cook, niece Tammy Cook and Great-Nieces Heather and Alison Dunham. A Graveside Service will be on Thursday (October 5, 2023) at the Bath National Cemetery with Military Honors.
