Stephen E. Lafferty age 64, passed away peacefully on Saturday (November 4, 2023) at Arnot Ogden Hospital.

He was born in New York City on December 23, 1958, and had been a resident at the Arc’s East Main Street Residence in Hornell for many years, and Able-2 in Horseheads for the last several years.

His caretakers have many fond memories about him. Anyone that met Stephen fell in love with his sweet personality. He loved to play the piano and keyboard, the holidays, playing games, bowling, books and being read to. With a simple rubbing of his head his whole face would light up and smile. His favorite movie was The Incredibles, which he never got sick of watching. His walls were covered with Marvel superheroes including The Hulk and Spiderman, and many other Incredibles characters.

A line that would sure to be approved by Stephen would be “You have more power than you realize. Don’t think, and don’t worry. If the time comes, you’ll know what to do.”

Friends are invited to attend calling hours on Monday (November 13, 2023) from 11am-1pm at the Bender-Brown & Powers Funeral Home, with a service to follow at 1:00pm with Deacon Robert McCormick officiating. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Canisteo.
