Natalina (Nan) M. Racalto Arkport Natalina (Nan) M. Racalto, 75, of Arkport, passed away peacefully on Saturday (May 29, 2021) at her home. Born in North Hornell, November 21, 1945, the daughter of Emil Cudoni and Ruth Cline, she had resided her entire life in Hornell. Nan was a graduate of Hornell High School, and received her Nurses Degree from the State University of New York at Alfred. Nan was employed at the former St. James Mercy Hospital in Hornell for over 30 years as an R.N. in the maternity department. She retired in 2009. After her retirement, she remained active as a volunteer in the hospital's gift shop for 10 years. Nan was a communicant of the former St. Ignatius Loyola Church in Hornell, and later Our Lady of the Valley Parish, and a communicant of St. Ann’s Church in Hornell. She was an active member of the Adoration of The Blessed Mother Mary at St. Ann’s. Nan enjoyed traveling to the casinos, playing cards with family, playing Bingo, but treasured spending time with her grandchildren, and “Grand Dogs, Zoey and Leah." Nan was predeceased by her parents; her son Christopher; sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Ed (Maxie) Firlit; brother and sister-in-law, John and Betty Cudoni; her stepfather Joseph Toti; and her mother -in-law and father-in-law, Dorothy and Bill Maxson. Surviving are her husband of 55 years, Raymond F. Racalto of Arkport; her children, Ruthanne Ashworth of North Hornell, Raymond A. Racalto of Arkport, Joseph (Jason) Huang-Racalto of Lake Ridge, VA, and Edward (Chrissy Carney) Racalto of Alfred; her brother Emilio “Butch” (Priscilla) Cudoni of Woburn, Massachusetts; her grandchildren Jason Daniels of Hornell, Mary Margaret Ashworth of North Hornell and Elexis Racalto of Alfred; her great grandson Roman Daniels; her brothers-in-law; Ron (Sue) Trail; Robert Trail, Anthony Racalto, sister-in-law, Antonette Horton; and several nieces and nephews. The family is accepting visitors Wednesday (June 2, 2021) from 4 PM to 7 PM at the Bender- Brown and Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo Street, Hornell. Family and friends are invited to attend Nan’s Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday (June 3, 2021) at 10 AM at St. Ann’s Church on Erie Avenue in Hornell. If attending Mass, unvaccinated individuals are asked to please wear a mask and follow social distancing protocol. Private committal services will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Town of Fremont. Friends wishing to remember Nan, are asked to make contributions to the Paradise Garden Animal Haven, 598 Kent Hill, Woodhull, NY 14898 , to Catholic Charities – Steuben, 23 Liberty Street, Bath, NY 14810 or to Mercy For Animals @ Give.Mercyforanimals.org.
